Then we can talk to you about your dental condition and offer any preventive advice and discuss any treatment that may be required. We’ll cover all treatment options and help you decided which is best for you. We can also provide you with a full written treatment plan with costs clearly stated, if you need this.
Dental Hygienist Services
Our dentists and hygienists provide thorough routine cleaning, which is important to help maintain good dental health. Patients with gum disease may require extra help and treatment to return to good level of dental health.
Gum Treatments
It is often easy to ignore problems with your gums until it’s too late. If you suffer from bleeding and/or swollen gums it is vital to address the problem. The most important aspect of gum treatment is to learn the correct techniques for looking after your teeth and gums. The dentist and hygienist will give you clear instructions and advice on how to do this. The gum treatment itself is a process of deep cleaning out any substances that have become attached to the tooth/root and are causing the problem.
Routine Fillings
These can be needed to restore a tooth when it has been damaged either through decay or trauma. With the option of new modern white filling materials we can achieve some excellent cosmetic results. As always, all options will be discussed in full with you to help with your decision making.
Root Fillings
The nerve inside a tooth can be damaged by infection or trauma. When this happens it is possible to maintain this tooth through root filling treatment. Usually carried out over one or two visits the nerve area is first cleaned, disinfected and then filled with an inert material. This enables you to keep your own tooth without the need for crowns or bridges.
Crowns
Crowns are used to cap over a tooth when it has been damaged in some way. The crown is custom made to slip over your existing tooth to protect the underlying structure. Crowns can be made of a variety of materials ranging from metals, to more cosmetic porcelain options. We can fully discuss these options and costs with you in advance.
Air Polish
The procedure utilises a fine jet of compressed air, water and fine powder particles to gently and completely remove staining caused by tea, coffee, red wine and tobacco, as well as staining caused by some mouthwashes.
Anyone who has ever cringed as a scraping tool digs into their gums or a polishing disc presses on to the tooth enamel will welcome air polishing for its painless, fast and non-invasive method of cleaning.
Scaling may still be required to clean tight gingival margins to prevent bacteria from increasing prior to using air polish.
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a way of replacing a missing tooth. The bridge is custom made and usually fixed to one or two of the adjacent teeth next to the missing tooth. The more modern approach to this type of treatment requires a very minimal amount of treatment and can be a simple elegant solution.
